We come now to the last verse 40, which ends the block of verses in Daniel chapter 11, dealing with World War II. Daniel 11:40. "AND AT THE TIME OF THE END SHALL THE KING OF THE SOUTH PUSH AT HIM; AND THE KING OF THE NORTH SHALL COME AGAINST HIM LIKE A WHIRLWIND, WITH CHARIOTS, AND WITH HORSEMEN, AND WITH MANY SHIPS; AND HE SHALL ENTER INTO THE COUNTRIES, AND SHALL OVERFLOW AND PASS OVER". Here within these words is a multitudinous time which is so full of past, present, and future troubles that we have to spend much time translating and opening its meaning slowly. So, one can see the eventual stage being set for future history.

Let us begin with the first line of verse 40. "AND AT THE TIME OF THE END SHALL THE KING OF THE SOUTH PUSH AT HIM". Remember reader, that the words "TIME OF THE END" was first emphasised to start the block of verses for World War I in verses 33 to 35. Which same words had also ended World War II. These were one and the same war, with only a breathing space between them. Therefore, the killing of the "people of UNDERSTANDING" seen from verses of World War I, would continue on for many years into the future, within the whole nation of Israel. Then into World War II and onwards, until all Daniel's verses and chapters of that nation's prophecies are fulfilled in secular and biblical histories. All of man's ruling powers finishes with the entry of the "kingdom of the STONE", which is endorsed in Daniel's chapter 12, etc.

The expression "TIME OF THE END" has a 2 fold meaning, firstly it knits together this block of secular history from 1914-18 to 1939-45; Then goes on to tell one the second meaning of the "TIME OF THE END," running into and continuing through verse after verse to the end of Daniel's chapter 11, which is towards and over the year 2,000 AD.

Firstly, here in verse 40, we see the "TIME OF THE END" referring to and concluding World War II, and the story of the character of the "king" Hitler. Who had "MAGNIFIED" himself in previous verses, which we have read and translated. The "CARCASE" of all Israel, -both houses- are very much in evidence in all these verses, and it is "they" who are being shot at, or torn to pieces by the marauding Eagles. These verses within Daniel's chapters are their "latter day" history showing their promises were being fulfilled, and to demonstrate their "purging" was taking place. All their prophecy were, and are, being fulfilled to the letter of the Law. That fact reader, you must not lose sight of no matter how I digress at times into the history of other nations and peoples.

The "CARCASE" spoken of by Jesus is the "nation of the House of Israel", with most of the Israelite Carcase of 10 tribes- within British ancestry. Who, within their long history are being attacked again and again, right up until the end of the "times of the Gentiles" are fulfilled. Or the times of the various nations represented within Nebuchadnezzar's image have run its full course, and the consummation is complete. This long history of that "CARCASE", explains to all of us, -without a shadow of any doubt,- where the "House of Israel" is today. They reside within British stock and the Commonwealth of Nations and the United States of America. We see and know today where the "House of Judah" rests, which is within the Promised Land of Israel in the Middle East. With many Jews still scattered in other nations also.

Now that we have picked up those loose threads of this historical picture again, for to keep it all tightly together, we continue on now with prophecy and the "TIME OF THE END", during Hitler's time and reign of terror. The "TIME OF THE END" indeed began when the "KING OF THE SOUTH PUSHED" at Germany, as verse 40 states. The pivot point derived for the "KING OF THE SOUTH" is once more translated as SOUTH of the British Isles.

The last time we read in Daniel's prophetic history of the "SOUTH" of the British Isles was in verse 29, when we read of Henry VII Tudor going to Normandy in France. Verse 28 we saw Richard the Lionheart coming from the SOUTH and Normandy into the Isles. Verse 27 we had William of Normandy coming from the SOUTH, France, into the Isles. History is repeating itself again in verse 40, when Normandy, -south of the Isles,- becomes a prominent name during World War II. Normandy, SOUTH of the British Isles is used once again for a concentrated invasion, called "Overlord" against Hitler's forces.

Many biblical scholars have tried to squeeze the translation of verse 40, -when Daniel mentions the king of the SOUTH and NORTH into a meaning that its trouble for the Jews in the land of Israel. Thereby questioning that the King of the NORTH could mean Syria or Russia attacking and the SOUTH which could be Egypt? This of course is conjecture! Daniel's prophecies follow history step by step in their respective time zones- relentlessly. The translation does not work with conjecture but absolutism! Therefore, prophecy pivots on a central point, and because its British history we are unravelling in all these verses, from verse 17, therefore it's still translated NORTH and SOUTH of these Isles.

One must also take into consideration all historical subjects within Daniel's verses dealing from this compass point, therefore, biblical scholars cannot try and shape translations to their own long held thoughts and beliefs. Instead, these verses will shape the biblical scholar and blow those long held wrong beliefs sky high!

In verse 40 of Daniel, we are coming to the closing stages of World War II dealing with Hitler's Germany. So, we cannot use the wrong directions in thinking the prophecy speaks of NORTH or SOUTH of Germany, because it wouldn't make sense when unravelling this prophecy! Russia came rushing into Germany from the eastern corridor, and the allies came to Germany from the west and France.

The "KING OF THE SOUTH" in verse 40, was to be a "Leader" of this great "invasion" from Normandy, which is a channel port of France,- SOUTH of the British Isles. It was "he" who controlled the "PUSHING" from the south into Germany, and his name was Dwight Eisenhower. It was also in Southern England and Wales that the forces and implements of war were massed for many months on end. Let us go deeper into this history of that "KING OF THE SOUTH".

Note first of all reader that the kings of the SOUTH and NORTH attack the king Hitler simultaneously at the "TIME OF THE END" of Hitler's ruling. One "PUSHING" into the SOUTH and France, the other driving fiercely from the NORTH. Because it is "THE TIME OF THE END" for Germany's power in its special time zone within prophecy. It follows then that these two SOUTH and NORTH KINGS, are both leaders of a pincer movement of an invasion force into that land. For to finish off that German king of World War II.

When Daniel's verse 40 says, "THE KING OF THE SOUTH SHALL "PUSH" AT HIM, AND THE KING OF THE NORTH SHALL COME "AGAINST" HIM". You will note in the 2 differing words, -PUSH and AGAINST,- imply 2 different manners of fighting or destroying their foe. To "PUSH" means to beat, drive, or shove, to press against with force, to impel by pressure or urge forward, to advance by exertions, or to force one's way in a vigorous effort and enterprise.

To come "AGAINST" means to be in opposition to, or contrary to, abreast and bearing down upon and in expectation of.

The "Overlord" and "leader" of the Normandy invasion, the American Dwight Eisenhower, has gone down in history not only as a soldier, but later was to be the thirty fourth President of the United States of America. Who, on December 24 1943, through the "chiefs" of state of both America and Britain, (House of Israel), named him Commanding General of the allied forces. With the responsibility of organising the invasion of Western Europe. This operation was given the prophetic name of "Overlord", Or the king or leader of the invasion into France, SOUTH of the Isles. The word "Overlord" was used during the time of the feudal system when one lord was over another, and that word denoted superiority, authority, and power of governing. Here also was another tribe of the House of Israel, -namely Manasseh- being brought forth in Daniel's prophecy for recognition in our modern times. In other words when the United States of America under President Franklin Roosevelt, -son of Manasseh,- got together with Great Britain under Winston Churchill - son of Ephraim - Their ancestral father Joseph's two arms were joined in strength, and in full control of all other tribes in the House of Israel. Manasseh's ruling at that time became dominant, bringing about an "Overlord" for authority and power of governing, moving towards the SOUTH and victory. So was fulfilled for Joseph's seed, of the "arms" of his hands were made strong, (Genesis 49:24).

Up to this point in biblical and secular history the great ruling power of the United States had not been mentioned by Daniel, when dealing with the history of the British Isles. It is not an oversight by Daniel in anyway, but because in 45 verses of chapter 11, Daniel is condensing over 2,000 years of history for the 2 nations of Israel. A fantastic achievement in itself, when one looks back over those very full years of the comings and goings of various civilisations, and prominent nations.

The invasion into Normandy was the largest and greatest amphibious assault force and undertaking in military history, which began in June 5/6 1944. The supreme Commander Eisenhower retained his command until unconditional surrender of Germany on May 8, 1945.

Let us have a quick look also at what was going on in that Southern Kingdom of France during those times. The Southern country of France (from Britain), had not openly fought against the German occupation for 4 years, having a puppet Vichy government in power. A well-known Southern leader Charles De Gaulle, who during World War II, was Brigadier General under Marshal Petain of France. He was in London in 1940 when Petain sued for an armistice with Germany. There in England De Gaulle remained to gather the French people to his Free French National Committee etc. In 1942 the Free French Committee was officially recognised by Allied governments, and the French Resistance leaders. From 1943 De Gaulle was chairman of the French Committee of National Liberation, and he in London, claimed the status of the legal government -in- exile. Moving to Algiers after 1943 he insisted on the right to speak for all France, with the same power as Britain and the USA. By 1944 Paris was liberated and the French Committee recognised as the de facto government of France with De Gaulle as President. Within France itself the "underground" army had gradually grown in strength and went on through the years harassing German occupation. When their liberation finally arrived in June 1944, with the Allies pouring South from Normandy, the Germans fell back being "PUSHED" out of their positions. All was attributed to the Free French Resistance forces within France, coupled with French units coming SOUTH with De Gaulle, and the great "PUSHING" tactics of the flood of the Allies. They move the Germans ever backwards into their own land. The Allies still held unchallenged authority in liberated France, until much later when De Gaulle was to become its absolute President.

Operation "Overlord" plan, with its supreme commander Eisenhower, would take over a year in the making to achieve its mighty "PUSH" forward into Normandy, which culminated into Germany's "END TIME" of power. For a quick picture of this momentous task of "PUSHING SOUTH", I will quote excerpts from the books "Milestones of the 20th century", and "The Encyclopaedia Britannica". (The emphasis of words are mine). "SOUTHERN ENGLAND BECAME A GIANT MILITARY BASE AS AN ENORMOUS ALLIED FORCE BEGAN ASSEMBLING, BY JUNE, THREE MILLION MEN, SOLDIERS, SAILORS, AND AIRMEN, AS WELL AS THOUSANDS OF TANKS, GUNS, AND OTHER SUPPLIES HAD BEEN MADE READY FOR THE ASSAULT. D.DAY JUNE 6, 1944, THE ALLIES BEGAN LANDING ON THE BEACHES OF NORMANDY AND PUSHED FORWARD ACROSS FRANCE AND THE LOW COUNTRIES AND INTO THE HEART OF GERMANY.

THE "PUSHING" FORWARD OF THE GERMANS BEGAN BY NIGHTFALL JUNE 6, THE AMERICAN AND BRITISH FORCES HAD ESTABLISHED A FOOTHOLD IN GERMAN OCCUPIED EUROPE; AND IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS "PUSHED" FORWARD KILOMETRE BY KILOMETRE INTO OCCUPIED FRANCE, THE GERMANS FIGHTING STUBBORNLY. BY SEPTEMBER 11 THE FIRST AMERICANS CROSSED THE GERMAN BORDER. SLOWLY THE ALLIES BEGAN EXPANDING THEIR BEACH HEAD TOWARDS CHERBOURG AND CAEN. FROM LATE JULY ONWARD THE ALLIED ADVANCE GAINED MOMENTUM AND BY JULY 30 AMERICAN TROOPS CAPTURED AVRANCHES, MEANWHILE THE BRITISH AND CANADIAN TROOPS PINNED DOWN THE BULK OF GERMAN ARMOUR AROUND CAEN. A SECOND ALLIED INVASION FORCE LANDED ON THE "SOUTHERN" FRENCH COAST ON AUGUST 15, AND BEGAN MARCHING NORTH WARDS, BY MID SEPTEMBER THE ADVANCE IN THE LOW COUNTRIES AND ALSACE-LORRAINE HAD SLOWED, AND BY DECEMBER 15 THE FRONT HAD STABLISHED. ON AUGUST 25 AMERICAN AND FREE FRENCH FORCES HEADED BY CHARLES DE GAULLE MADE A TRIUMPHAL ENTRY INTO PARIS. THE FIRST PHASE OF "OPERATION OVERLORD" WAS OVER. IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS THE ALLIES HAD SECURED NORMANDY, AND MOST OF BRITTANY INFLICTING MORE THAN 520,000 GERMAN CASUALTIES. THE ALLIED ARMIES IN NORTHERN FRANCE "PUSHED" INTO BELGIUM, LUXEMBOURG, AND ALSACE-LORRAINE. BY MID-SEPTEMBER THE ALLIED FRONT RAN FROM THE VOGES MOUNTAINS ALONG THE SIEGFRIED LINE OF GERMANY AND ACROSS THE SOUTHERN BORDER OF THE NETHERLANDS. THEREAFTER THE ADVANCE WAS SLOWED BY LOGISTICAL PROBLEMS AND GERMAN RESISTANCE. IN MID SEPTEMBER A DARING ALLIED ARMOURED AND PARATROOPER ATTACK DESIGNED TO SEIZE BRIDGES ACROSS THE RIVERS MENSE, WAAL, AND LOWER RHINE RIVERS IN THE NETHERLANDS, RAN INTO TOUGH GERMAN OPPOSITION. BY EARLY OCTOBER 16 GERMAN ARMOURED AND INFANTRY DIVISIONS STRUCK THE THINLY HELD ALLIED LINES IN THE ARDENNES SECTOR OF THE FRONT, THE 6 AMERICAN DIVISIONS HOLDING THE AREA FELL BACK,- IT WAS CALLED THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE,- THE BATTLE COST THE GERMANS 100,000 CASUALTIES, AND ALLIES HARD HIT SUFFERED NEARLY 76,000 CASUALTIES. A SECOND GERMAN OFFENSIVE BEGAN ON JAN;1, 1945 TO THE SOUTH IN THE DISPUTED PROVINCE OF ALSACE-LORRAINE, THE OFFENSIVE WAS SUCCESSFUL AT FIRST. THE ALLIES QUICKLY REORGANISED THEIR DEFENCES HOWEVER, AND BY JANUARY 26, THEY HAD HALTED THE GERMANS ABOUT 19 KILOMETRES FROM THE SAVERNE GAP, WHICH WAS THE MAIN ROUTE THROUGH THE VOGES MOUNTAINS, (and into Germany) ON FEBRUARY 8, THE ALLIES LAUNCHED THEIR FINAL OFFENSIVE AGAINST THE THIRD REICH, OVER RUNNING THE RUHR ON APRIL 18 AND SWEEPING ACROSS GERMANY. GERMANY SURRENDERED ON MAY 7 AFTER BEING FACED WITH DEFEAT ON ALL FRONTS WITH THE RED ARMY CLOSING IN, IN THE EAST".

This was indeed a condensed version of the "PUSHING" of the Germans all the way back into their homeland and its heart, Berlin. The "King of the SOUTH" - from France- the supreme "Overlord" of this great invasion plan from Normandy, Dwight Eisenhower, had to direct not only great masses of men and materials, but the various Generals, or Field Marshals of the Allies. Which was not an enviable task coming as they did from various backgrounds, many times showing forth arrogance or pique in their subordinate roles.

The unconditional surrender was signed by the German High Command and the Allies in a formal ceremony on May 8 at General Eisenhower's headquarters in Reims, France.

So was completed the "PUSHING" from the "king of the SOUTH", -from the British Isles - out of France against the Germans, whose leaders were to come back to the "SOUTH" at Reims acknowledging Eisenhower and is "Overlordship" in defeat. We continue with Daniel 11:40, which says; "AND THE KING OF THE NORTH SHALL COME AGAINST HIM LIKE A WHIRLWIND, WITH CHARIOTS, AND WITH HORSEMEN, AND WITH MANY SHIPS"; The "KING OF THE NORTH" at this time in history was Joseph Stalin, mobilising his immense forces of Russia.

Though Stalin's personal background was of a man who had come out of the peasant stock, and not the nobility of Russia. He, using power ever so slowly in craft and stealth, until he reached the all-powerful position as the absolute "leader" or King of his NORTH country. Communism, which was his platform did not allow kings as such, yet! "HE" became an uncrowned king, or Tzar, in his own right. Secular history has recorded how all those who opposed him soon fell to the grim reaper, -death- until he alone stood undisputed king of all the Russians.

In order to evaluate how, and why, the "KING OF THE NORTH" (of the British Isles) came against Germany like a "WHIRLWIND", (seen in Daniel 11:40), we must have another quick excerpt from history of that invasion which took place. Again, I will quote from the books "Milestones of the 20th century" and Encyclopaedia Britannica," and again in a condensed fashion. "ON JUNE 22, 1941, GERMANY LAUNCHED THE GREATEST MILITARY OFFENSIVE IN HISTORY ALONG AN 1800 KILOMETRE FRONT, 3 MILLION SOLDIERS OF THE THIRD REICH PUSHED EASTWARDS TOWARDS LENINGRAD, MOSCOW, KIEV, AND THE CAUCASUS, THEY ADVANCED WITH INCREDIBLE SPEED, BY OCTOBER 20 GERMAN TANKS WERE WITHIN 64 KILOMETRES OF MOSCOW. THE RUSSIANS DRAWING ON A VAST SUPPLY OF MANPOWER AND RESOURCES, SLOWLY TOUGHENED THEIR DEFENCES, STRENGTHENED THEIR ARMIES, AND STEPPED UP THEIR PRODUCTION OF ARMAMENTS. IN 1942-43 THE RUSSIANS STRUCK BACK,- GRADUALLY FORCING THE GERMANS INTO RETREAT, THIS WAS CONTINUED FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS WITH MANY FIERCE BATTLES, THE GERMANS NEVER FULLY REGAINED THE INITIATIVE. STALINGRAD LOOMS IN RETROSPECT AS A CRUCIAL TURNING POINT IN THE WAR,- THE NEXT MAJOR BATTLE AT KURSK IN JULY ENDED IN A SOVIET VICTORY, COINCIDING WITH THE COMBINED BRITISH AND AMERICAN LANDING AT SICILY. THE RED ARMY PUSHED ITS WAY FROM THE EAST, KILOMETRE BY KILOMETRE TOWARDS BERLIN, AND THE VERY HEART OF HITLERS INSUPERABLE THIRD REICH. BY JANUARY 31, 1942, FIELD MARSHAL FRIEDRICH VON PAULUS OF THE GERMAN SIXTH ARMY CAPITULATED TO THE RUSSIANS WITH 91,000 PRISONERS TAKEN. FIELD MARSHAL FRITZ VON MANSTEIN HEADED ARMY GROUP DON AND WITH GROUP A. RETREATED TO THE GENERAL LINE IN 1942, AND HIS TROOPS RECAPTURED THE TOWN CHAR'KOV. BY 1943 AMERICAN AND BRITISH LEND- LEASE AID WAS SUPPLYING 10 PERCENT OF RUSSIANS WAR NEEDS, BY THE SPRING SOVIET PRODUCTION WAS COMING INTO HIGH GEAR. SOVIET GENERALS MEANWHILE HAD, HAD 2 YEARS TO STUDY GERMAN STRATEGY AND TACTICS AND TO ADAPT THEM TO THEIR OWN ADVANTAGE. -(they took to Blitzkrieg like a duck to water).- BY THE SUMMER OF 1943 THE ALLIED INVASION OF SICILY HAD BEGUN WHICH MADE HITLER TRANSFER TROOPS WESTWARD IN DEFENCE OF ITALY, AND HITLER HAD BEGUN HIS OFFENSIVE AROUND KURSK IN AN ATTEMPT TO ACHIEVE VICTORY. THEREAFTER THE SOVIET UNION GAINED THE INITIATIVE FORCING THE GERMANS TO WITHDRAW ON SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL FRONTS. HITLER ORDERED THE GERMAN ARMIES TO ADOPT A SCORCHED EARTH POLICY AS THEY WITHDREW, DEMOLISHING MINES, FACTORIES, POWER PLANTS, RAILWAYS, BURNING CROPS, AND ALL OTHER RESOURCES. BY THE END OF 1943 THE RED ARMY OUT NUMBERED ITS OPPONENTS BY NEARLY 3 MILLION MEN, 6100 TANKS, AND 12,000 HEAVY GUNS, KEEPING UP ITS PRESSURE ALL ALONG THE FRONT INTO THE SPRING OF 1944.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS 1943-44 THE BADLY WEAKENED WEHRMACHT, (army) WERE UNABLE TO GAIN THE OFFENSIVE, THE SOVIET FORCES DROVE RELENTLESSLY FORWARD, RECAPTURING VAST AREAS AND LIBERATING MOST OF THE MAJOR CITIES OF THE U.S.S.R. BY THE END OF 1943 BY THE RED ARMY THE BALTIC STATES HAD BEEN LARGELY OVERRUN, FINLAND, ROMANIA, AND BULGARIA, WERE COMPELLED TO SURRENDER TO THE INVADING SOVIET FORCES, THE RED ARMY OCCUPIED THE UKRAINE, AND CONQUERED LARGE AREAS OF POLAND, HUNGARY AND CZECHOSLOVAKIA. THEN IN JUNE IN "CONJUNCTION" WITH THE ALLIED D.DAY LANDINGS AT NORMANDY THE RED ARMY SURGED ACROSS THE PREWAR POLISH AND ROMANIAN FRONTIERS. THAT ALLIED INVASION IN FRANCE 1944 MATERIALLY AIDED THE RUSSIANS WHO QUICKENED THE PACE OF THEIR ONSLAUGHT. GERMANY WAS NOW BESIEGED FROM THE EAST, SOUTH, AND WEST. MARCH 1944 SAW A "TRIPLE THRUST" BY THE RED ARMY, ZUKOV DROVE THE GERMANS SOUTHWEST THROUGH POLAND TO OUTFLANK THE GERMANS, YAKOVLEVICH MALINOVSKY IN THE SOUTH ADVANCED ACROSS TOWARDS THE DNEPER RIVER, AND BETWEEN THEM GENERAL IVAN KONEV STRIKING CENTRAL REACHED 70 MILES AHEAD OF THEM TO THE DNESTR RIVER. THE ADVANCE WAS SO FAST ACROSS POLAND,- 450 MILES IN 5 WEEKS- IT HALTED ON THE VISTULA FOR 6 MONTHS IT HAD OVERSTRAINED SOVIET COMMUNICATIONS. IN AUGUST 3 GREAT "WHEELING MOVEMENTS" BY THE SOVIET FORCES DROVE SOUTHWEST ACROSS BULGARIA, WESTWARD UP THE DANUBE VALLEY AND THROUGH THE YUGOSLAV BORDER, AND NORTHWEST INTO TRANSYLVANIA, FINLAND CAPITULATED IN SEPTEMBER AND THE RED ARMY SLICED MERCILESSLY AGAINST THE GERMAN FORCES REMAINING IN ESTONIA, LATVIA, AND LITHUANIA. IN JANUARY 1945 THE RED ARMY STARTED ITS MIGHTY OFFENSIVE IN POLAND, AND GENERALS KONEV, ZHUKOV, AND ROKOSSOVSKY STRUCK THE GERMANS AT THE SAME TIME AND ADVANCED 100 MILES A WEEK, AT THE END OF JANUARY ZHUKOV'S MECHANISED FORCES WERE ONLY 40 MILES FROM BERLIN. THE OFFENSIVE THAT THE RED ARMY OPENED WAS AIMED AT THE FINAL DESTRUCTION OF THE NAZI ARMY ON THE EASTERN FRONT, AND TO CAPTURE BERLIN. THE SOVIET ARMY SWEPT ALL BEFORE IT UNCHECKED AND BY APRIL IT HAD CONQUERED ALL EAST PRUSSIA AND MUCH OF GERMAN SILESIA AND REACHED 30 MILES EAST OF BERLIN, WITHIN THAT YEAR THEY HAD SWEPT UP TO THE GATES AND THEY ENTERED BERLIN IN APRIL. THE UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER WAS SIGNED BY THE GERMAN HIGH COMMAND AT SOVIET HEADQUARTERS BERLIN,- THERE WERE 2 FORMAL SURRENDERS".

So, when Daniel describes that "THE KING OF THE NORTH SHALL COME AGAINST HIM (Hitler) like a WHIRLWIND, this WHIRLWIND" was seen to the full in Russian hands".

The movement of a WHIRLWIND is of a violent wind moving along from air to earth as if round an axis, this axis having at the same time a progressive motion. The axis itself is a straight line, real, or imaginary, passing through a body around which other parts are arranged.

One can see reader in what we have read, of these great wheeling or whirling movements the Russian Generals had used, moving and wheeling on 3 sides in their terrible onslaught, driving all before them upon the Germans, which was their "WHIRLWIND". The German forces themselves had devastated Europe and Russia previously, with "Blitzkrieg" (or Lightning war); Which was a closely co-ordinated offensive combining attacks by air, tanks, and infantry, which was a terrifying development in war. It was indeed a "WHIRLWIND" of destruction in action! The Russians turned the tables on the Germans however after studying their strategy and incorporated "Blitzkrieg" in their "WHIRLWIND" advance. The Russians had downed 70,000 German Luftwaffe planes, and they themselves eventually filled the skies from Russia to Germany with planes attacking the German armies, Airforce, and the cities in the same manner of the "Blitzkrieg". Russian "WHIRLWIND" indeed moved from air to earth in a devastating manner, bearing down on all before it mercilessly - in the manner of a natural whirlwind,- It did not stop its destruction until its goal was reached.

Let us go to the next line of Daniel verse 40. "WITH CHARIOTS, AND WITH HORSEMEN, AND WITH MANY SHIPS"; We have already read in the condensed information of these invasions of the kings of SOUTH and NORTH, and the immense number of men, armaments, planes, and tanks which were used. This picture should clarify for you reader this particular sentence of verse 40. Nevertheless, we will look into it slightly in a little more detail.

The CHARIOTS which Daniel saw would of course have been all the motorised vehicles of the twentieth century, especially the tanks. The word "CHARIOT" itself simply means,-car-, it can be a stately carriage with 4 wheels, or a vehicle used formally in war, or at races. Indeed, the four wheeled chariots of all shapes and sizes, whether cars or tanks, would have carried masses of soldiers on the invasion fronts, and were seen in their thousands coming thick and fast both NORTH and SOUTH; Especially the first massive new tanks the Russians produced in the NORTH.

The "HORSEMEN" mentioned in Daniel's verse 40 seems rather out of place in such a mechanised war as World War II. Unlike the First World War, when horses were used in profusion. Nevertheless, the horses with their horsemen,-who were really skilled riders of soldiers serving on horseback,- were also brought back purposefully to fight again against the Germans in World War II. Before France fell to the Germans in 1940, their armies had brought back their horses in cavalry charges and for pulling gun carriages, etc., in their thousands. Despite the fact they were up to date in their mechanised forces and the ultimate in defences of the Maginot Line. The Russians also had their fighting soldiers on horseback renowned for their horsemanship the world over, called the "Cossacks" -or predatory horsemen.

During the 1917 Civil war in Russia the Cossacks were very divided in their loyalties, some fought against the Bolsheviks others supported them. While some remained indifferent, others joined the Red Army. Some Cossacks were swept away by the Soviet system and were no longer used as a special military or police force. In 1936 however the Soviet government re-established a number of Cossack cavalry divisions, which later fought against the Germans valiantly in World War II, who upheld their name as "soldiers on horseback" proud and fearless. We must remember also that Daniel watching this vision was unaware of tanks etc., seeing a soldier sitting in the turret of a tank would have looked like a HORSEMAN in a CHARIOT. The "many ships" that Daniel records in verse 40, were indeed seen to the full in the mighty invasion fleet which was landed by the king of the SOUTH on the beaches of Normandy, remembering reader that it was the greatest amphibious force in military history.

The "king of the NORTH" came down upon Germany - mainly through being land locked,- passing through Poland as the corridor between the two countries. Yet! Secular history records the sailors and the ships of the Russian battles in World War II against the Germans.

During Germany's victories into Russia and her control of Finland, the Baltic Sea played a dominant role. Sevastopol became Russia's Gibraltar, and after a nine month siege by the Germans the people went underground because of the heavy bombing, the siege lasted 250 days and nights. Eventually the Russians broke out of their predicament, and the sailors in their ships, -as a vast armada- fought the Germans in the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea, inland waterways near Leningrad in the Baltic, in the Arctic, and the Gulf of Finland, -so was Daniel's war time picture completed and fulfilled! We come now to the last sentence of verse 40. "AND "HE" SHALL ENTER INTO THE COUNTRIES, AND SHALL OVERFLOW AND PASS OVER". Here is a line to pause and take stock of what we have already read and unravelled within verse 40. At the beginning of this chapter on verse 40, I told you this was a verse full of past, present, and future troubles. When the whole block of 6 verses from verse 35 to 40, -which was the time zone from World War I and World War II- was enacted out in history during 1939-45, we saw "why" Germany MAGNIFIED its position in the earth. Wanting to gain the world, north, south, east, and west. We read also of Germany wanting to finish and wipe out the disgrace of losing World War I. This then, was "past" history which caused the war of World War II, that the leaders of men of SOUTH and NORTH in verse 40, found themselves in.

The then, "present" history of that Normandy invasion of "PUSHING" against Germany from the SOUTH, and the "WHIRLWIND" from the NORTH brought to an "end time" the ruling of the leader Hitler. Who dominated the last verses of Daniel's chapter 11, namely 36,37,38,39, Hitler's time in that history was fulfilled to the letter of the Law, through his nature and of his life. Now, verse 40 in its last sentence sets the stage for "future" history, to bring us up to our "present" day, and into the year 2,000 AD.

Note well reader what the last line of verse 40 says; "AND "HE" SHALL ENTER INTO THE COUNTRIES AND SHALL OVERFLOW AND PASS OVER". Who then is this "HE" that is going to do this OVERFLOWING? It is not the king of verse 36 (Hitler) because his "time of the end" has been reached, as the beginning of verse 40 tells one. The kings of SOUTH and NORTH have brought his "END TIME" to close in history, his power has ended! The king of the SOUTH for World War II was "Overlord" Eisenhower, leading the allied invasion into Normandy. He had planned, fought, and had won. The allies returned to their own lands eventually only leaving behind forces to keep the peace.

The "King of the NORTH" however, came "rushing down" through many countries and on into Germany like a "WHIRLWIND", but HE would not return fully to his own land. Instead, "HE of the NORTH" continues on entering other countries, and he "OVERFLOWED" them. Which means to inundate, to flood, to overwhelm. "HE" in other words swamped other nations as a disaster, in such a manner that they were swallowed up into the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, and all things Russian. The "King of the NORTH" -called HE- collected other countries for himself in his drive forward, keeping them as part of his own land, and then again "PASSING OVER" to another nation. Or "HE" advanced and proceeded, through other nations. As the words "PASS-OVER" implies, the king of the NORTH, let go his fury and used other nations as if they were unnoticed, and to be disregarded altogether. "HE" of the NORTH had an arrogant complete intolerance for any country that stood in his way, entering some countries as if they were of no importance at all using them for his own ends. "HE" OVERFLOWED" others, and "overwhelmed" them into the Russian sphere. Some countries were beyond his recognition as "HE" passed by with disregard for their culture, their feelings, taking them all automatically it seems, under the Russian sphere. That cold "HE" leader of the NORTH, was Joseph Stalin, who treated other countries as he treated his own people with cold contempt. Whoever stood in his way were inconsequential, or just a means to an end. The beginning of the end from that time on was to be the doctrine of Communism, which upholds the absorption of all proprietary rights in the community to the exclusion of private ownership. Russia, the land of the King of the NORTH, which became the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republic's with its mighty accumulation of power has gradually developed since the revolution during World War I.

Fifty years ago, Russia was bottled up in its own vast territory and found difficulty in conquering a small nation such as Finland. Since World War II it has emerged as a world power, dominating in aggressiveness from the impetus of "OVERFLOWING" it achieved from that time, and it has dreams to still grow larger and larger in the world though it has problems, which we shall read of in Daniel's latter verses to follow. Daniel prophesied to the letter of the law when he said that 3 things would the King of the NORTH accomplish; HE would ENTER-OVERFLOW-and PASSOVER, using the "Blitzkrieg whirlwind", and "he" did exactly that! The quote from the books "Milestones of the 20th century" and Encyclopaedia Britannica" give us many countries Russia "OVERFLOWED", namely, Finland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Transylvania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, East Prussia, German Silesia, and east Berlin. The "PASSING OVER" of Russia has continued since World War II. In 1956 they brutally crushed Hungarian opposition. 1968, again occupied Czechoslovakia. 1975, intrigued in Vietnam. 1976, Communist troops invaded Angola. 1978, communist troops invaded Ethiopia. 1979, helped in the invasion of Kampuchea. 1979, invaded Afghanistan. This is without assessing the infiltration of their secret services within every country of the world.

So now, the "future" history for the world stage has been set, and it is another "HE" from out of the NORTH, who will play the major role from verse 40 to the very END of TIME as predicted. The 2 headed eagle of Tsarist Russia always remains with them its eyes set on still conquering east and west. The insignia of this flag has been changed to a hammer and sickle or a star on a red banner. But the desire for world domination has been a 1,000-years-old dream, and under the Byzantium 2 headed eagle standard!
